nudge — hold the word‘s sound in your mouth
carefully I place my weight
seeking out the exact point where resistance ends
when one gives in and the other gives up
my index, my thumb, my forearm, and my right eye —
one gives, the other gives in
imagine your body the rose
of a compass
scratching the corners of a room
fold at the center, create even halves
it is pages falling open
a big white block, the centerfold, facing down
two flattened palms touching at the pinky
surely friends have missed other friends before
surely there’s another tangent behind the horizon
of your soft voice over the crackling distance
